Relentless
The roots of soccer at Stow-Munroe Falls High School date back to the early 1960s. Soccer became a varsity sport at Stow in 1972. It began as a club sport, and we would like to pay tribute to the pioneers of the program at Stow. We chose 1966 because it was the first year where we found records of the team competing with a formal schedule (6 games), even though our guys were laying the groundwork to get this program started for a few years before this. Thus the name of the website, Bulldog Football Club 1966. The purpose of this website is to recognize our history and to provide current information about the team, so please contact coachkosmala@yahoo.com if you would like to share any soccer information about our history, especially the 60s and 70s. Not many schools can boast having a soccer program that has been around for over 50 years. The Bulldogs have been crowned league champions on 10 different occasions ('82, '83, '84, '86, '87, '93, '94, '95, '96, '06). Stow has claimed the District Championship four times ('88, '05, '06, '18) and has been runner-up four times ('93, '04, & '08, '17). The Bulldogs have claimed 18 sectional titles ('76, '84, '86, '88, '93, '94, '97, '02, '03, '04, '05, '06, '08, '09, '12, '16, '17, '18). In 2005 the Bulldogs made their first appearance in the Regional Final. The Dogs brought home the ultimate prize in the fall of 2006. The Bulldogs did not surrender a goal in their last 4 playoff games on their magical run to the state title. The 2006 State Championship Team went undefeated and received a final national ranking in the NSCAA poll of #12. Jeff Grater received NSCAA All-America Honors in 2006. A feat no other Bulldog has attained. Jeff Grater was the first soccer player to be inducted to the Stow-Munroe Falls High School Booster Club Hall of Fame in 2014, followed by Bob Nicholson ('77) in 2017. In addition to Grater, two other Bulldogs have garnered awards higher than the state level. Michael Berish received NSCAA All-Midwest Honors in 1982 and Corey Hunt received All-Great Lakes Region Honors from the United Soccer Coaches in 2018. Thanks for taking the time to stop by our website, it is a work in progress that will continue to evolve.
